The Southern alligator lizard (Elgaria multicarinata) is a lizard native to the Pacific coast of North America. It is common throughout Southern California and can be found in grasslands, chaparral, and forests as well as urban areas. In dry climates, it is likely to be found in moist areas or near streams.

they enjoy climbing, and need a hiding spot( mine really loves that exo-terra plant) a semi-moist environment; i usually mist him in the mornings and dampen the area around his water well. require UVB; i have an explorarium that i hang on the porch and i try to get him in that for at least 2 and a half hours at least four days a week. they are related to snakes i believe, and some of them accept pinkies when they are fully grown. they shed in one piece like a snake( and when i saw that in his cage i thought it was very cool) and they have a forked tongue
