The African Bullfrog (Pyxicephalus adspersus) is a species of frog in the Ranidae family. It is also known as the Pixie frog due to its Latin name. It is found in Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and possibly Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its natural habitats are dry savanna, moist savanna, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, intermittent freshwater lakes, intermittent freshwater marshes, arable land, pastureland, and canals and ditches. This is a large frog, many weighing in over 2 kg.

I have had an African Bull frong since it was a frogling for about 10 mths now... Past 2 mths, tongue not able to get prey?
Does anyone know what may be the issue. It was before that he could zap crickets... but now he can't ...
I wonder if 1) a sore on it; 2) damaged from possibly hitting the tongs (since used rubber ones); 3) possibly bloated and too full; or 4) is this a start of some disease?
Any thoughts on same would be appreciated.
Thanks. Frank

Hey Frank Thanks for signing up. I haven't heard of this before, do you mean his tongue is no longer sticky? Is he making an attempt to eat the prey items?
To be honest I do not have that much experience with frogs, maybe someone else on here might.

Can you post some pics of the frog? How many and how often do you feed and what sized crickets? What kind of supplement do you use? If you hold him in your hand does he feel limp or does he feel like he is tough. If you put him on his back he should by reaction start wiggling and attempt do flip right side up. If he is showing any of these, it may be a sign of metabolic bone disease.
